Cycling in the
Forest
The Forestry
Commission's Forest Enterprise is responsible for the
management of the forests and promote cycling in the woods and forests in the
UK. Cycling is available for a wide range of cyclists including family cycling and orienteering by bike through
waymarked forest sections.
There are over 1,500 miles of
waymarked trails as well as easy forest tracks which feature some of the best off-road
cycling in Britain.

in place as lovely as Cardinham Woods in Cornwall, or in the more extensive forests of East
Anglia at Thetford Forest Park - ideal for
off-road families as well as mountain bikers. There are the huge varied
landscapes around the biggest manmade forest in Europe and Britains largest forest, Kielder Forest
Park in Northumberland, or try out the demanding routes specifically devised for in the
rugged area of Coed y
Brenin Forest Park in Wales. Cycling in Galloway Forest Park in Scotland or
the Great Glens Route, and trails on Scotland's west coast and into
the remote and beautiful areas.'
All
the forests are
freely accessible and open
throughout
the year.
