The
North
Sea
Cycle
Route
circumnavigates
the
North
Sea
by
bike
-
over 3.500 miles -
and
the
circuit
joins
Scotland
with
Norway,
Sweden,
Denmark,
Germany,
the
Netherlands
and
England
-
cities
to
visit
include
Bergen,
Stavanger,
Gothenburg,
Hamburg,
Den
Haag
and
Edinburgh.
The
route
is
a
collaboration
between
the
European
Union
and
over
sixty
local
authorities
in
seven
countries.
It
aims
to
encourage
cycling
as
a
healthy
and
environmentally
friendly
form
of
tourism,
and
in
particular
to
make
cyclists
aware
of
the
opportunities
for
cycling
holidays
in
other
countries
around
the
North
Sea,
making
use
of
the
many
international
ferry
services.
