If you cycle the route from the direction of the Forth towards the Clyde then this is the starting point, the Port of Leith. The Royal Yacht Britannia lies here and the harbour and docks are still busy and a strong contrast to the railway tracks, country parks and quiet country lanes that comprise most of this route as you head towards Glasgow and the Firth of Clyde.
