Once on to the Canal you will meet walkers, joggers, cyclists, mothers pushing prams across aqueducts, Tai Chi work outs, and a few tourists, but mostly locals who take advantage of their waterway through Edinburgh and its outskirts - on sections of the canal, waterside garages and workshops appear perilously close to the waterline.
