At Ilderton there are a few miles of track that are heavily stoned so you may need to walk or use the grass wherever possible through this section. But it's a peaceful track with only the sheep looking on.

This off-road track does encounter a fair share of cattle farmland. The whole of Northumberland is very agricultural and this is typical of the hilly pastures and hill farming communities that have been such a significant aspect of the area for hundreds of years - Northumberland is certainly a large county but retains its isolation and stillness.
